He married SUSAN HEDGER by banns on 16th June 1839 in Ninfield, Sussex,
(source : Parish Register of Ninfield, ESRO PAR 430/1/3/2, page 3, entry 5). The entry in the marriage records
the following:
Benjamin Bourne (signed his name), 23, Labourer, of Ninfield, father Thomas Bourne, Labourer,
and Susan Hedger (signed her name), 32, Maid Servant, of Ninfield, father Michael Hedger, Labourer.
The witnesses were Albert Holland and Jane Holland, who both signed their names, and

SUSAN HEDGER was the daughter of MICHAEL HEDGER and MARY YOUNG and was baptised on

).
On the 1841 census, Benjamin (25, ag lab), wife Susan (30),
daughter Sarah (5 months) and another child (nurse child ?) ELIZABETH WOOD (12 months) are all
at Wilson's Farm in Ninfield, Sussex.
On the 1851 census, Benjamin, a 35-year-old labourer, his 41-year-old wife Susan and their three children were in
Ashburnham, Sussex. On the 1861 census, Benjamin, a 44-year-old ag lab, wife Susan (54),
daughter Elizabeth (15, scholar) and two lodgers, WILLIAM HEDGER and THOMAS HEDGER, are all in Ninfield.

On the 1871 census, Benjamin Sr, 53, widower, ag lab, is at Ninfield Green, Sussex, with son BENJAMIN Jr
(married, 28, grocer), his daughter-in-law HARRIETT (30, grocer's wife), and daughter ELIZABETH (unmarried, 28, servant?).
Both Benjamin and Susan appear to have died before 1881, because they do not show up
on the 1881 census.
