he was living in Ore Down, Hastings, with his parents. On the 1871 census, he was an
unmarried 23-year-old builder's labourer (like his father), living with his parents in Middle Road, Ore, Sussex.
He married CAROLINE AMELIA ? before 1881
(assuming this is the correct family).
She was born in Ore, Sussex circa 1846 (source : 1881 census).
